Compilation of School Bullying Data #bully

The National Center for Education Statistics of the Institute of Education Sciences has released new data compilations about school bullying. The report includes data from the 2015 School Crime Supplement (SCS) to the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS). The Web Tables show the extent to which students with different personal characteristics report being bullied. Estimates include responses by student characteristics: student sex, race/ethnicity, grade, and household income. The U.S. Census Bureau (Census) appended additional data from the 2013–14 Common Core of Data (CCD) and the 2013–14 Private School Universe Survey (PSS) to the SCS to show the extent to which bullying victimization is reported by students in schools with different characteristics.2 School characteristics appended to the file are region; sector (public or private); locale; level; enrollment size; student-to-full-time-equivalent (FTE) teacher ratio; percentage of combined American Indian/Alaska Native, Asi...

NCES Issues Report: Digest of Education Statistics 2016 #ed stats #data

The National Center for Education Statistics of the Institute of Education Sciences has released its annual data report the Digest of Education Statistics 2016. The report is a wealth of information about public education data. Here is a quote from page 71 of the report: The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), enacted in 1975, mandates that children and youth ages 3–21 with disabilities be provided a free and appropriate public school education. The percentage of total public school enrollment that represents children served by federally supported special education programs increased from 8.3 percent to 13.8 percent between 1976–77 and 2004–05 (table 204.30). Much of this overall increase can be attributed to a rise in the percentage of students identified as having specific learning disabilities from 1976–77 (1.8 percent) to 2004–05 (5.7 percent). The report  Characteristics of Public Elementary and Secondary Schools in the United States: Results From the 2015–16 National Teacher and Principal Survey.  The "First Look" examines descriptive statistics and basic information from the national survey. it provides a fresh look at public schools in the United States. The report includes a wealth of information about public schools. You can read the entire 46 page report here. Breaking: New NCES Report on Crime, Violence, Discipline and Safety in the Public Schools #bullying #school discipline

The National Center of Educational Statistics of the federal Institute of Education Sciences has issued a report on crime, violence, discipline and safety in U.S. Public Schools 2015-2016. The report provides findings using data from the 2015–16 School Survey on Crime and Safety (SSOCS:2016).  If you deal with school discipline or crime, you should study this report. Breaking: NCES Releases The Condition of Education 2017 #data

The National Center for Education Statistics of the Institute of Education Sciences has released "The Condition of Education : 2017." The report contains a wealth of information about education in the United States. The following are some interesting findings of the report About 16 percent of 25- to 64-year-olds who had not completed high school had one or more disabilities in 2015, compared to 11 percent of those who had completed high school, 10 percent of those who had completed some college, 8 percent of those who had completed an associate’s degree, 4 percent of those who had completed a bachelor’s degree, and 3 percent of those who had completed a master’s or higher degree. Differences in the employment and not-in-laborforce percentages between persons with and without disabilities were substantial, amounting to about 50 percentage points each.
